Champions love Belgrade, and Serbia loves champions! A nation of sport and a true hub of elite athletes—our capital continues its tradition of hosting major sporting events. The Serbian Athletics Federation is proud of the fact that year after year it has the honor of hosting one of the biggest indoor meetings in the opening phase of the competitive season.
One of only eight meetings in the world with Gold status on the World Athletics calendar, the Belgrade Indoor Meeting will be held on February 11, 2026, at the Banjica Athletics Hall, bringing together the very elite of world athletics—global champions and superstars of the sport.
The second-fastest man in history, with a time of 12.81 seconds, American hurdler and sprinter Grant Holloway is coming to the Serbian capital and will present himself to the Belgrade audience.
Holloway introduced himself to Belgrade and the world in the best possible way in 2022, when he claimed the world indoor title in the 60 meters hurdles. He is the world indoor record holder with a time of 7.29 seconds, set in Madrid on February 24, 2021—a time he matched in Belgrade on March 20, 2022. He successfully defended his world indoor gold in this discipline in 2024 in Nanjing, China.
In the 110 meters hurdles, Holloway is a three-time world champion (Doha 2019, Eugene 2022, Budapest 2023), a silver medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and the Olympic champion from Paris 2024.
From 2019 to the present day, he has amassed six world titles, along with one Olympic gold medal. He won the first of his three indoor world titles precisely in Belgrade, where he also confirmed the fastest time and record that he still holds today.
Grant Holloway is a man on a mission. His goal is to “win a medal every year” until he retires—and for six years now, he has been firmly on that path. Since 2019, he has stepped onto the podium at every major championship he has competed in.
Although his first sporting love was the NFL, his transition into athletics proved to be a perfect match. As a sprinter and long jumper, Holloway dominated collegiate competitions, winning the NCAA indoor 60 meters title four times, a reign that included breaking a record that had stood for more than 40 years.
At his first major international championship in Doha, the “Wonder Boy” won his first gold medal in the 110 meters hurdles at just 21 years of age. He opened his Olympic season by setting the indoor world record of 7.29 seconds, erasing Colin Jackson’s long-standing mark of 7.30 from 1994.
Five months later, he clocked 12.81 seconds in the semifinals of the U.S. Olympic Trials—the second-fastest time in history. His personal best is just 0.01 seconds slower than the world record set by Aries Merritt in 2012.
One of the greatest hurdlers of all time, known for his incredible speed and remarkable winning streak, Holloway aims to continue his golden run in the 2026 competitive season. The Belgrade Indoor Meeting 2026 is one of the key stops where he will be chasing gold—and possibly another history-making performance.
There is no doubt that the stands at the Banjica Athletics Hall will be filled to the last seat on February 11, 2026, just as in previous seasons. The world’s elite of the “queen of sports”—those who shape new chapters of global athletics, break records, and deliver unmatched adrenaline—are simply not to be missed. Among them, one of the biggest names in the sport today is undoubtedly Grant Holloway, and we will once again witness his athletic brilliance on the track in the Banjica forest.
Holloway is accustomed to being the best—so let us watch the best. Let us watch, in Belgrade, the second-fastest man in history, the world champion crowned in Belgrade in 2022, who will once again be with us and competing for us.
