Athletics would not wear the crown of the queen of sports if it were not adorned by adrenaline-filled divas battling against time. Belgrade has had the honor of crowning some of the greatest female athletes in the history of the sport, as well as witnessing those who have inscribed its name in the golden books of athletics around the globe.
A meeting with “Gold status,” one of only eight in the world in 2026 on the World Athletics calendar, the Belgrade Indoor Meeting will be held on February 11, 2026, at the Athletics Hall in Banjica. As in the previous 11 years, the Serbian capital can proudly boast that the full splendor of this beautiful sport will be demonstrated by world stars, among them Polish sprinter Ewa Swoboda.
Sprinters are athletes of explosive power and speed, strong muscles, and striking visual presence—athletes we admire and who always leave us breathless with their top performances. That is exactly what the famous Polish athlete and short-distance sprint specialist, Ewa Swoboda, is like.
A silver medal at the World Indoor Championships, two silver medals at the European Championships, one gold and two silver medals at the European Indoor Championships, as well as one gold and one silver medal at the European Games, represent the greatest achievements of this attractive sprinter, who also represented her country twice at the Olympic Games, in 2016 and 2024.
Swoboda holds the world junior record of 7.07 seconds and the Polish national record of 6.98 seconds in the 60 meters.
She won her first senior medal right here in Belgrade. The 2017 European Indoor Championships in the Serbian capital brought Ewa Swoboda a silver medal in the 60-meter sprint, marking the beginning of her outstanding senior career.
As the 2019 European Indoor Champion, she recorded a time of 6.99 seconds at the Polish National Championships, placing her 10th on the all-time list.
Although injuries troubled her throughout her career, she never gave up. She showed great resilience to become—and remain—a true contender in sprinting, the most demanding and most beautiful discipline of the queen of sports.
Swoboda is one of the most attractive sprinters in the world, among the most passionate and memorable regardless of results. An additional hallmark of her striking appearance is provided by the numerous tattoos on her sculpted muscles. Her tattoos include a rose, a cat, and the inscription “Mom and Dad, I love you,” written in English.
Swoboda, whose surname translates as “freedom” into English, hopes to stay injury-free in the continuation of her career and that Belgrade will once again bring her luck and propel her toward new European and world medals. Athletics fans will have the opportunity to be part of the Belgrade Indoor Meeting on February 11 and enjoy the mastery that global virtuosos of the queen of sports will present at the athletics arena in Banjica.
